Leksands sourdough crispbread are made using sourdough base, with the addition of malt – which gives the crackers a subtle earthiness and a little extra bite. The dark crackers look wonderful with bright, fresh ingredients such as red peppers, taramasalata and fresh herbs.
Leksand crispbreads are loved across the world, and are still made with exactly the same recipe as when the family started baking in 1817. The signature dimple effect on the crackerbreads are created by the studded rolling pin used by founder Karin.
The company, now run by the sixth generation, uses water from its own spring to make the crispbreads, and operates a fossil-fuel free bakery. The brand’s red horse logo (called a Dalahäst) was once a common child’s toy – today it has become a symbol for Sweden itself.
Please note that the delicate crispbreads may occasionally crack while on their way to you – but we will make every effort to ensure they arrive in one piece!
